Uber Shows Interest in Partnering with Tesla: “No One Wants to Compete with Musk”

Uber’s CEO Khosrowshahi expressed a desire to partner with Tesla in the robotaxi field. Khosrowshahi mentioned, “No one wants to compete with Musk.” Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi stated optimism in potentially working with Tesla and Elon Musk once the company launches robotaxis. Musk had announced in January that Tesla would start a paid robotaxi service in summer 2025. Khosrowshahi noted that having Tesla vehicles available for rides on Uber would benefit the company. Mentioning that no one wants to compete with Tesla and Musk, Khosrowshahi emphasized that a partnership between the two companies would maximize revenue. Khosrowshahi also pointed out that the same principle applies in the food industry, where restaurants use various delivery services to reach more customers. Expressing a previous interest in partnering with Tesla, Khosrowshahi stated, “Competing with Elon Musk is not an easy matter, and we take nothing lightly.” Uber has partnerships with other autonomous vehicle manufacturers such as Waymo and Wayve as well.
