In the UK, the unemployment rate increased by 0.1 percent to 4.4% during the three-month period covering November 2024 to January 2025. The UK’s Office for National Statistics (ONS) released data on unemployment and wages for the period of November 2024 to January 2025. Accordingly, unemployment rose by 0.1 percent to 4.4% compared to the previous quarter. Unemployment also increased by 0.3 percent on an annual basis. During this period, the increase in employees’ salaries excluding bonuses was recorded at 5.9% annually, while the increase in salaries including bonuses was reported as 5.8%. In real terms (adjusted for inflation), total and regular salaries also saw annual increases of 2.1% and 2.2% respectively.
