The tension over customs duties between the US and China continues. Following US President Donald Trump’s announcement of reciprocal tariffs on April 2, China’s retaliation turned into a duel between the two countries.

In a statement on his own social media platform, Truth Social, US President Donald Trump said, “China has suffered a much heavier blow compared to the US. They and many other countries treated us badly in an unsustainable way. We were a foolish and helpless punching bag but we are no longer.” Trump mentioned that more than 5 trillion dollars of investment has returned to the country, stating, “Right now, more than 5 trillion dollars has been invested and it’s increasing rapidly. This is an economic revolution and we will win. It won’t be easy, but the ultimate outcome will be historic. We will make America great again.” China had announced that in retaliation to Trump’s 34% tariff implementation, the same rate would be applied to all US goods.
