US Secretary of State Addresses Hamas with a Cross on His Forehead: “They Better Take it Seriously”
US Secretary of State Rubio addressed Hamas with a cross on his forehead. Rubio’s interesting gesture was interpreted as a sort of threat. However, it was later understood to have a religious significance.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio made a statement after President Donald Trump’s threats to Hamas.
Trump had addressed Hamas, saying, “Release the hostages now. Otherwise, all hell will break loose.”
Rubio, backing Trump during his speech on Fox News with a cross on his forehead, said, “If he says he’s going to do something, he will. So they better take it seriously.”
The US minister said, “People don’t understand that the president talks to the hostages, hears their stories, and becomes rightfully angry. He’s tired of watching videos where every weekend barely alive hostages are released, bodies are handed over, sometimes the wrong bodies, games are played with 5 people here, 3 people there, and he’s losing patience on this issue.”
More than these warnings, it was Rubio’s cross symbol on his forehead that stood out. Initially, it was thought to have a symbolic meaning parallel to its explanation. However, it was later understood to reflect a Christian tradition.
