The US embassy in Syria has cautioned American citizens about potential attacks during the upcoming Ramadan holiday. An announcement published on the embassy’s website states, “The US Department of State warns American citizens of an increased likelihood of attacks targeting the US Embassy, international organizations, and Syrian government institutions in Damascus during the Ramadan holiday.” The statement also notes, “Attack methods may include individual attackers, armed assailants, or explosive devices.” Washington advises its citizens not to travel to Syria due to significant risks such as terrorism, civil unrest, kidnappings, hostage-taking, armed conflict, and arbitrary detention.
