Vehicle Owners Beware! Deadline Approaching: Fine of 28,000 Lira for Failure to Register

Only 2 days left to register for the National Vehicle Identification System, which concerns 8 million commercial vehicle owners. Those who do not complete the vehicle registration process may face fines of up to 28,000 lira. The deadline to register for the National Vehicle Identification System (NVIS) that will prevent tax losses in fuel is approaching. According to the NVIS Implementation General Communiqué published on October 5, 2023, it became mandatory for all commercial vehicles to have the Vehicle Identification Unit installed. To prevent grievances, the Ministry of Treasury and Finance had extended the final registration date for the system to January 31, 2025. Vehicle owners must register for NVIS by 24.00 on Friday, January 31, 2025, to avoid penalties and inconvenience. How to Register for NVIS? Commercial vehicle owners must register for NVIS at www.nvis.gov.tr and complete payment transactions to the specified bank accounts. Vehicle owners who register may have until April 30, 2025, to complete installation procedures. There is a risk of a special irregularity fine of TL. Tax discounts will not be available after this date for fuel purchases with sales receipts not issued in NVIS, and vehicle owners will not be able to benefit from tax reductions. Fine of Up to 28,000 Lira. Vehicle owners who do not complete registration and installation procedures within the stipulated period may face special irregularity fines ranging from 7,000 TL to 28,000 TL depending on their taxpayer status. Additionally, fuel stations that fail to timely install the Vehicle Identification Reader and station equipment may face fines of up to 280,000 for each violation.
