Visit from Elon Musk to the Pentagon

The Head of the Government Efficiency Department (DOGE) appointed by US President Donald Trump, Elon Musk, visited the Pentagon. The US media reported that Musk received information on possible plans regarding a China war. Trump, who denied the allegations by calling them “fake news,” announced that Elon Musk would address the costs at the Pentagon.

US billionaire businessman and Government Efficiency Department (DOGE) executive Elon Musk visited the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) and had a meeting with Secretary Peter Hegseth. No official information was shared about the content of Musk’s visit. Musk arrived at the Pentagon at 10:20 am and was reportedly welcomed by Hegseth during the approximately 90-minute visit. After the meeting, as Musk shook hands with Hegseth who escorted him to the door, Musk was heard saying, “If there is something I can help with, I would like to see you.” When leaving the Pentagon, Musk replied to journalists’ questions about the content of the meeting, “Why should I tell you that? As always, it was nice to meet, you know, I have been here before.”

Claims that he discussed “plans related to a China war” during the Pentagon visit sparked assessments that represented “an unusual level of access” for Musk, who holds billions of dollars in federal defense contracts through Tesla and SpaceX companies. Defense Department sources speaking to the US media about the visit shared that Musk’s meeting at the Pentagon encompassed unclassified information and included a general assessment on several topics, including China. Based on information from two sources familiar with the meeting, the New York Times (NYT) reported that Musk was alleged to visit the Pentagon to be “informed about a possible war with China.” In response, US President Donald Trump, in a statement on the Truth Social social media account, used the phrase “Fake news at it again, this time New York Times. They falsely claimed that Elon Musk is going to the Pentagon to be informed about a possible war with China. How absurd.” US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also denied the NYT’s report in a post on X and stated, “This is not about ‘highly classified China war plans,’ this is an informal meeting about innovation, efficiency, and smarter production.”
