Visit to the United Arab Emirates by Syrian President Al-Assad

Al-Assad, as the President of Syria, is currently in the UAE for his second visit to a Gulf country. He met with his counterpart, Zayid El Nahyan, in Abu Dhabi as part of this official visit. Syrian President Ahmed Al-Assad, who arrived in Turkey on Friday for the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, traveled to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) today for an official visit. According to the official news agency of Syria, SANA, Al-Assad and his delegation arrived at Al Bateen Airport in the capital city of Abu Dhabi. Al-Assad and his delegation were welcomed at the airport by UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayid El Nahyan. Subsequently, Al-Assad and his delegation met with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayid El Nahyan at the El Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi. This is reported to be Al-Assad’s second official visit as the President of Syria to a Gulf country, according to Reuters news agency. It is mentioned that Syrian Foreign Minister Esad Sheibani accompanied Al-Assad on this visit, and it is expected that Al-Assad will discuss issues related to the “mutual interests” of the two countries during his diplomatic talks in the UAE. Al-Assad had made his first visit abroad to Saudi Arabia in February, and his second one was to Turkey. During his visit for the Diplomacy Forum on Friday in Antalya, Al-Assad also met with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The meeting was held behind closed doors at the hotel where Erdoğan was staying. A statement from the Presidency of Communications mentioned that during the meeting, President Al-Assad and President Erdoğan discussed Turkey-Syria bilateral relations, as well as regional and global issues.
