Warning from Experts: Rubber Coating Tires Pose Traffic Danger!

Following inspections, the Ministry of Industry and Technology had decided to withdraw from the market some products that pose safety risks. Among them, nine rubber coating tire companies were listed. Experts are warning that rubber-coated tires could present a danger on the road.

Worn-out tires are renewed through a process that turns them into rubber-coated tires. A rubber-coated tire can be reused without losing any performance. They are usually preferred in trucks and buses due to their affordability. However, experts believe that this preference could pose a danger. Automotive writer Turgut Yüksekdağ stated, “I think this type of tire, which supplies traction in vehicles on buses as well as heavy vehicles, should not be used. Because tires are objects that connect us to the road as much as the palm of our hand. Therefore, they should always have the necessary tread depth.”

“SHOULD NOT BE USED ON BUSES”

Despite all the risks, Yüksekdağ warned that if rubber-coated tires are to be used, certain precautions should still be taken. He said, “There are some regulations in place for this, but especially in buses, it should not be used. In trucks, it should definitely not be used on the steering tires providing traction. It can be used on the rear sides, trailers, etc. but they should be prepared in places where the necessary certifications are provided.” The Ministry of Industry and Technology conducted inspections in the first three months of the year. Some brands’ products were found to violate technical regulations and pose safety risks, leading to their removal from the market. The list included nine rubber coating tire companies.
