As the days count down to Ramadan, the eagerly awaited price of Ramadan pide has been revealed.
Halil İbrahim Balcı, President of the Turkish Bakers Federation, announced that the new price of a 250 gram pide in Istanbul and Ankara will be 20 TL.
LAST YEAR IT WAS SOLD FOR 15 TL In Istanbul, Ankara, and Antalya, a 250 gram Ramadan pide was sold for 15 liras.
SOME DISTRICTS IN EDIRNE SET AT 25 TL
As Ramadan approaches in Edirne, bakers have started preparing for the pide season. The prices of pide in Edirne have been determined. A 300 gram pide will be sold for 25 liras. It was noted that bakers in Edirne requested an increase in pide prices. Kemal Cingöz, President of the Edirne Chamber of Craftsmen and Artisans, explained that prices for pide are set according to the conditions of the day. Cingöz stated that the price of a 350 gram pide in Edirne will be approved at 30 TL, “In some districts, the price of a 300 gram pide has been set at 25 TL. The plain pide price we are currently providing is valid and there is no distinction between with egg or without egg. The reason for this is that one egg costs 8 liras. This affects costs and therefore prices. Customers who want pide with egg can pay the difference at the bakery to have it made with egg. There is no update regarding bread. We have informed the Ministry about the price, but we have not received any feedback yet. There is no talk of increasing bread prices. It might take 3 months to determine the new prices. Many provinces have had bread price increases. About 15-20 provinces, like Edirne, have not had a bread price increase. That is why Edirne stands out as one of the cheapest places for bread. Apart from bread, there is currently no demand for a price increase in any other sector. I do not know if there will be a price increase during Ramadan. But due to the low purchasing power of the citizens, tradesmen are not inclined to raise prices.”
