WhatsApp, one of the world’s most popular messaging applications, has announced that as of May 1, 2025, it will no longer be supported on some older model phones. According to the company’s statement, the application will stop working on phones with outdated operating systems in order to keep up with technological advancements. WhatsApp has urged its users to update their devices and operating systems or switch to newer models. Otherwise, essential WhatsApp features like messaging, calling, and media sharing will no longer be available after May 1, 2025. WhatsApp officials stated that this decision was made to enhance user security and application performance. Among the devices losing support are phones running Android 5.0 and earlier versions, as well as some iPhone models with iOS 12 and previous versions. Devices that do not receive updates or remain on old iOS versions will be among the most affected by this decision.
