The application that started on December 1, 2024, is now entering its final days. So, when does the winter tire application end, has it ended?For commercial vehicles transporting cargo and passengers between cities, the mandatory winter tire application, essential for a safe journey ensuring life and property safety in private vehicles, will end on April 1. APPLICATION STARTED ON DECEMBER 1 The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure requires vehicles used for passenger and cargo transport to have winter tires installed for a certain period of the year, taking into account the weather and climate conditions of the cities, according to the Road Traffic Law. This authority can also be delegated to governors by the Ministry. The inspection of vehicles is carried out by personnel authorized by the Ministry, as well as by the General Directorate of Security, the General Command of Gendarmerie, the units of the Ministry of Commerce at border crossings, and the inspection teams of municipalities. Administrative fines are imposed on drivers who do not comply with the rule. The mandatory winter tire installation, which started on December 1, 2024, throughout Turkey, will end on Tuesday, April 1. TIRE CHANGE COST STARTS FROM 800 LIRAS The tire removal and installation operation cost 800 liras for 13 and 14-inch rims, 1000 liras for 15 and 16-inch rims, 1250 liras for 17-inch rims, 1500 liras for 18-inch rims, 1700 liras for 19-inch rims, and 2,000 liras for 20 and 21-inch rims. The tire storage service is provided at the same cost as the replacement cost for 4 tires.
