The economic situation will be determined with the April interest rate decision to be announced by the Central Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee. Last month, the bank decided to reduce the interest rate from 45% to 42.5%. So when will the Central Bank announce the interest rate decision for April? The timetable for the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) Monetary Policy Committee’s announcement of the interest rate decision for April has been determined. Accordingly, the Central Bank’s interest rate decision for April will be announced on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 14:00. The April 2025 Market Participants’ Survey was answered by 71 participants consisting of representatives from the real and financial sectors. The participants’ current year-end consumer price index (CPI) expectation was 28.04% in the previous survey period, and it is now 29.98% in this survey period. The 12-month ahead CPI expectation was 24.55% in the last survey period and 25.56% in this survey period. The 24-month ahead CPI expectation was 17.06% and 17.69% in the same survey periods, respectively. The expectations for the overnight interest rate at the BIST Repo and Reverse Repo Market at the end of the current month were 42.33% in the previous survey period and 46.00% in this survey period. The CBRT’s one-week repo auction interest rate expectation at the end of the current month remains at 42.50% in this survey period, as it was in the previous survey period. The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank decided to decrease the policy rate, the one-week repo auction interest rate, from 45% to 42.5% in March.
