White House: If it weren’t for the US, France would be speaking German

White House Spokesperson Caroline Leavit stated, “France owes the fact that it currently doesn’t speak German entirely to the US.”

Caroline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary, strongly reacted to the statements made by French politician Raphael Glucksmann demanding the return of the Statue of Liberty from the US.

Leavitt advised the unnamed low-level French politician to remember that France owes the fact that it currently doesn’t speak German entirely to the United States. She said, “Therefore, they should be grateful to our great country.”

Leavit also used the phrase, “France owes the fact that it currently doesn’t speak German entirely to the US.”

WHAT HAPPENED?

Glucksmann had said, “Give us back the Statue of Liberty. We will say to Americans who choose to stand by tyrants, to Americans who fire researchers demanding scientific freedom: ‘Give us back the Statue of Liberty.'”

In 1884, France gifted the Statue of Liberty to the US to commemorate the alliance between the two countries. The statue was dismantled and transported by the French Navy ship Isère.

The construction of the entire structure was completed in 1886. The statue, located in New York, has since become a symbol of freedom and the United States.
