Those who are unable to benefit from retirement due to the premium day count and age requirement have focused on gradual retirement developments. In the case of EYT, men must have a 25-year insurance period and have paid 9,000 days of premiums. For women, the insurance period is reduced to 20 years, and the requirement is 7,200 days of premium payments. The Bill Proposal for Making Amendments to Some Laws containing economic regulations is being discussed in the Parliament. Along with this development, gradual retirement has come into the agenda again. Minister of Labor and Social Security Işıkhan put an end to the discussions. Here is the latest on Gradual Retirement…The Bill Proposal for Making Amendments to the Social Insurance and General Health Insurance Law and the Turkish Republic Retirement Fund Law prepared by Plan Budget Committee Member and CHP Karabük Deputy Cevdet Akay was submitted to the Parliament. In his recent statement, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan put an end to the discussions on gradual retirement. Işıkhan, while meeting with MPs at the AK Party Headquarters, stated that they do not plan a new change in the retirement system. The Minister used the statement, “The premium and year requirements needed to retire will continue.” On a TV program where he provided information about the discussions on gradual retirement, Işıkhan emphasized that there is no issue of grievance. The Minister of Labor and Social Security stated, “I think it is not a healthy style to emphasize grievances. Within this framework, we are working on how we can achieve the current actuarial balance, how we can pay our retirees their pensions regularly, and how we can make health services sustainable.”
