Civil servants will have the right to work part-time for childcare. After giving birth or adopting a child, either parent can work part-time.

SALARY OF THOSE WHO WANT TO WORK PART-TIME WILL ALSO BE HALVED

Spouses cannot benefit from this practice simultaneously. This right can last until the child starts elementary school. The salary payment of the beneficiary who wants to work part-time will also be halved. The part-time working right added to the Civil Servants Law in 2016 has not been implemented for 8 years.

According to the information obtained, the government is working on a regulation to implement this decision within the scope of the family year. According to the draft, those who want to work part-time must submit a written request to the institution at least 1 month in advance. Additional maternity leave will not be granted to the part-time working mother.

While the weekly working hours are normally 40 hours, the civil servant who wants to work part-time will need to complete 20 hours.

On certain days of the week, work can be done full days and a maximum of 3 days. The other option is to work at least 3 hours a day for 5 days a week.

The authorized officer may make changes in working hours in January and July. The same conditions will apply for those who adopt a child. This right can be used separately for each child. The draft regulation is open for feedback. The Ministry of Family and Social Services will give the final version.
