Woman Shakes Baby to Death: Deliberately Avoids Doctor, Arranges Fake DNA Test!

Melissa Wilband, a 28-year-old living in the UK, was found guilty of fatally shaking her four-month-old daughter Lexi Wilband in 2020.

According to BBC, Wilband caused severe brain hemorrhage by violently shaking her four-month-old baby Lexi Wilband at her home in Newent, Gloucestershire in April 2020.

Wilband’s former partner Jack Wheeler was acquitted of causing the child’s death. The jury reached a verdict after two days of deliberations.

CAUSES OF BRAIN HEMORRHAGE AND DEATH

Prosecutors stated that the bleeding in Lexi’s brain was caused by violent shaking.

According to prosecutors, these violent shaking incidents may have occurred multiple times. Six days after passing out, Lexi died on April 18, 2020, at Bristol Children’s Hospital.

“CRYING BABY” SEARCHES

When her four-month-old daughter Lexi passed out, the mother did not take her to the doctor. The prosecution suggested that Wilband may have intentionally missed appointments to prevent noticing health problems caused by Lexi’s shaking.

Additionally, it was revealed in court that Wilband had searched online about “crying babies.”

FAKE DNA TEST

During her pregnancy, Wilband arranged a fake DNA test to convince her former partner Jack Wheeler that he was Lexi’s biological father. She presented Wheeler with a fake document claiming to be a paternity test showing him as the father.

However, the real DNA test of Lexi, born on November 30, 2019, revealed that Wheeler was not the biological father. It was proven in court with evidence that Wilband had arranged this fake document to keep Wheeler unaware of the truth.
