Zaharova: “It’s a miracle that Zelenski was not punched”

Following the public disagreement between US President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelenski at the White House, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zaharova stated, “It’s a miracle that Trump and Vance did not punch Zelenski.” Russian officials released statements targeting Zelenski after the heated debate in the Oval Office, using expressions like “brutal scolding in the Oval Office” and “it’s a miracle that Zelenski was not punched.” Known as one of the closest figures to Putin, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev wrote that Zelenski was “slapped as he deserved” in the Oval Office. Medvedev, using the term “brutal scolding in the Oval Office” in his statement shared on social media, mentioned, “Donald Trump is right. The Kiev regime is gambling despite causing World War III.” Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zaharova wrote that it’s a complete miracle that Trump and Vance did not punch Zelenski. Zaharova stated, “I believe that Zelenski’s biggest lie was that the White House left the Kiev regime alone in 2022 and did not receive any support.” Kirill Dmitriev, the President of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), referred to the events as “historic.” UKRAINE’S STATEMENT Ukrainian authorities expressed their support for Zelenski. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiha said, “Zelenski has the courage and strength to defend what is right. He is fighting for fair and lasting peace in Ukraine. We have always been grateful for America’s support and will continue to be.” Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk wrote, “Full support to the Ukrainian President. Full support to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people! In this war, nobody should forget that Russia is the aggressor and Ukraine is the victim!” On the other hand, opposition member of parliament Oleksandr Dubinsky, who is in prison on charges of treason and describes himself as a “Trump supporter,” announced that Ukraine is at risk of losing US support and that the process of impeaching Zelenski needs to be urgently initiated. Dubinsky wrote on social media, “I demand an emergency meeting of the Parliament and the start of the impeachment process for Zelenski.”
