During a press conference, Ukrainian leader Zelenski responded to questions from NTV, expressing that he has an exceptionally positive relationship with President Erdogan. Zelenski stated that Turkey plays an important role for Ukraine and they desire Turkey to be one of the guarantors of Ukraine’s security post-war. He mentioned that Turkey took significant initiatives in Black Sea security, including an initiative to ensure the safe passage of food ships from Black Sea ports in 2022-2023, which was unfortunately blocked by Russia. Zelenski also discussed with Erdogan the matter of Turkey becoming one of the countries guaranteeing Ukraine’s security, to which Erdogan reportedly agreed. When questioned about Ukraine’s red lines regarding a peace agreement, Zelenski stated that Ukraine is ready to engage in peace talks with Russia in any way necessary. Finally, Zelenski pointed out that it is Russia that does not desire peace.
